Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the final table in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best enthusiasts around the world. While gambling on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might be players you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be found betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
