Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he enjoyed betting on different card games when he was young. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best players would frequently challenge each other. He had access into several of the greatest minds in chess. Howard Lederer also assisted his sibling Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of poker as she would always be asking questions about how to make the correct choice. He told Annie Duke to move out to Vegas and play in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the best female players the poker arena has ever seen. Howard relocated to Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the subsequent 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he decided to play more tournaments.
