Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve closing game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts in the world. While wagering on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to play at the table with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best poker players in the world might just be players you have never heard of. Gus can be found competing in web poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
