Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
