Web poker has become world famous lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, arcs back in fact a bit further than its television scores. Over the years several variations on the earliest poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to chemin de fer than old guard poker, in that the players bet against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is little bluffing or other kinds of deceptiveness. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the croupier declares "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the house and of course all of the other gamblers receive 5 cards each. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s initial card, you have to in turn make a call bet or give up. The call wager’s value is on same level to your beginning bet, indicating that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes directly to the casino. After the wager comes the face off. If the casino does not have ace/king or greater, your bet is given back, plus an amount equal to the initial bet. If the casino does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The casino pays money even with your bet and fixed expectations on your call wager. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • two to one for two pairs
  • three to one for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
