Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While gambling on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha hi-low and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
