Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
