Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
