Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best bettors in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in cash games?
