Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash rounds?
