Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
