Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to achieve closing table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest bettors anywhere in the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world might just be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
