Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the last game in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the greatest bettors around the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the greatest players in the world but he cannot buy in for the total dollar value. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
